CASA DA MOURA is situated inside the ramparts and scarcely within 5 minutes walking distance of the town centre of Lagos. It was built from an existing one using all the front parts of the building on the ground floor. Manor house with a height of 4 meters (from th floor level to the ceiling), wood-lined ceilings, wide corridors and stone and wooden floors. Its construction dates back from 1892 - it belongs to a local wealthy family. For many years it was occupied by the members of the said family. In the 1950's and 1970's it was the old headquarters of the Portuguese Legion. However, in the last few years it has been abandoned. |
